Project Description
May 2025 — With a title as unforgettable as its message, “Fuckwitt McGee” arrives as the fourth installment in Vanderwolf’s six-song Singles Club, a bold monthly release series unraveling the absurdities of modern life through sharp wit, musical dexterity, and fearless storytelling.
This latest track offers no safe harbor from critique. Instead, Vanderwolf holds up a cracked mirror to society—and himself—with “Fuckwitt McGee,” a blistering character study of the human condition at its most tragically comical. Equal parts satirical anthem and anthropological commentary, the song introduces us to McGee: a “universal man,” whose willful ignorance, chaotic blunders, and misplaced confidence have long been the blueprint for civilization’s most spectacular missteps.
LISTEN HERE!
From small-scale personal disasters to catastrophes of global consequence, McGee is there—locking his keys in the car one minute, launching nuclear codes the next. He’s the common thread in history’s greatest follies, a figure who barrels forward without reflection, self-awareness, or shame. In Vanderwolf’s words: “If this is the norm, then what is madness?”
But Vanderwolf doesn’t just point fingers—he turns the lens inward. “This song is about all of us,” he explains. “The mistakes we make, the blind spots we nurture, the damage we leave behind. It’s funny until it isn’t.”
Musically, the track is a riot of rhythm and surprise. Recorded in Camberwell, South London, it features:
- Chris Cordoba (guitar)
- Sam Sallon (keyboards)
- Will Muldrew (bass)
- And the explosive Chris Wyles on drums, whose polyrhythmic merengue double-time performance gives the track a manic, almost celebratory momentum—like a party at the end of the world.
Then there’s Vanderwolf himself, anchoring the chaos with lyrical fire and delivering what may well be rock music’s first truly compelling kazoo solo—a tongue-in-cheek flourish that somehow lands perfectly in a song defined by contradiction and bold risk.
“Living in the UK for many years, you quickly learn all the wonderfully disparaging terms: ‘chancer,’ ‘wanker,’ ‘knob’… and of course, ‘fuckwitt,’” Vanderwolf shares. “I borrowed the surname McGee from Kris Kristofferson’s ‘Bobby McGee’—and there you have it.”
“Fuckwitt McGee” is available May 21st on all major streaming platforms. It follows the eclectic previous singles from Vanderwolf’s 2025 series, each one diving into new musical terrain and intellectual territory. The final two tracks in the Singles Club will roll out in the coming months, continuing a run that’s as unpredictable as it is inspired.
